Bindiya Ghosh spent her years of growing up in the suburban locales of Kalyani, around 50km distant from city Kolkata. Her sudden wish for a career on stage was met with firm opposition from her family. Nevertheless, she signed up for a theatre course in Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, which also failed to meet her need and expectations, and she dropped out. Her early attempts to get into a theatre group in Kolkata were mostly refused on the grounds of her geographical location and distance. The same period witnessed her association with Shantanu Jha and Kishore Sengupta of Kalyani Natyacharcha Kendra, which proved pivotal in her getting a surprise call after moving away from theatre for two whole years! This call resulted in a performance alongside famous theatre actor Gautam Halder, which helped to literally cement her position in Bengali Theatre. Looking back, she realizes that it has been a personal triumph against steep odds!
