Reworking 90s’ Band magic @ Independent Music remains orphan

Posted by Kaahon Desk On April 22, 2016

As a band, Rollywood is highly influenced by the ethos of Bangla Band music of 1990s, which set them on their musical journey. In the course of it, the band has evolved to incorporate elements like folk, etc. resulting in a diverse soundscape. However, like fellow independent artistes, they too face the problem when it comes to promotion. The mainstream channels are all too invested in established artistes and film music while independent music suffers. Kolkata is especially lagging behind in this regard in comparison to Bombay. The quality or skill set doesn’t vary but Bombay offers a better platform of promotion.
