Talking about making a film, Pradipta Bhattacharya speaks vehemently against today’s conventional and mainstream practice of making cinema here. He feels that they are structured and sanitized to the point of being absolutely plastic and artificial. Cinema, at this point, itself wants to break out of it. Pradipta describes his film ‘Bakita Byaktigato’ as a result of that only. He believes that the problem stems out of a certain upwardly mobile middle class/upper middle class lifestyle. Even the so-called creative people are alienated and disconnected. And there is a glaring lack of originality. Pradipta lashes out against it and also expresses his strong reservations against the idea of adaptations as opposed to original screenplay. Countless stories are lying around in everyday life. If one says there’s no new idea, it’s simply because he/she is not looking closely.
