‘Abstract’ challenge of screen writing

Posted by Kaahon Desk On January 2, 2016

For Aditya Vikram Sengupta, the main challenge of writing for films is in the fact that mostly it is an attempt of putting the abstract into language. Besides writing about the images, sound effects and dialogue, one has to be extremely clear about the mood being evoked. And that is often achieved only with a perfect blend of characters, movements, colors, texture and even abstract elements like memories. He often resorts to video boarding in order to ensure a clear communication with his crew. He also talks about his forthcoming film which he has been writing in a rather conventional style with lots of dialogues but therein the challenge of the visuals kicks in.
