Amlan Datta insightfully reflects upon the status of cinema and cinematography in the media & entertainment industry as it has entered the digital era. On a personal note he cannot emphasize enough on the seriousness of practice and discipline in cinematography which he equates with Sadhana. However, he strongly refuses to accept the notion of decline of cinema just because people do not flock to theaters as before. He points out that whatever the viewing medium be, theatre or mobile phone, the core thing remains the same. It is simply to communicate and share an experience, a feeling and generate an affect out of cinematographic images.
