A Dhak is a familiar instrument in folk music festivals and religious celebrations in Bengal. One of the Dhakis or a Dhak playing professional from the village of Pranballabhpur, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, talks about the construction of a Dhak in detail. He points out the multiple nuances and various consequences of using different qualities of wood and skin. The skin usually comes from a goat or cow.
