The trailer of Debaloy Bhattacharya’s Roga Howar Sohoj Upay promises the Bengali cine goers a film that will finally deal with something that has been bothering the plump pudding bong girls for long – convenient ways to lose those extra weights! A romantic comedy cum thriller that puts on display some canonical images ranging from Eyes Wide Shut to some stereotypical glossy images that contemporary Bengali cinema is producing these days; films that are looking less like films and more like a hybrid of ad films, corporate videos and soap operas.
From Parambrata to Sen Sisters, the film further promises exactly what it wants its young adult urban intellectual audiences to expect. The trailer gives a hint of a plot line which appears to be a typical wife altering romantic drama with a touch of some generic thriller elements. However the synthetic sound-scape hardly leaves any first impression.
